TheROP-Win/TCP is a native Windows application that allows your Store POS support staff to be more productive by using the full power, usability, and flexibility of Windows GUI to support your 4690 controllers. ROP-Win/TCP provides remote support for your stores over a TCP/IP WAN. All 4690 systems with TCP/IP installed and levels of the 4690 OS are supported. ROP-Win/TCP supports all Windows workstation platforms including Windows 95, 98, NT, ME, and XP.
The new store selection database from ROP-Win/TCP has enhanced functions that allow you to configure logical groupings of stores into regions, assignment to individual support personnel, and define critical or high profile stores. ROP-Win/TCP will convert your existing IBM ROP configuration files if one is available. A sorting capability is provided to allow efficient location of stores. Multiple files may be selected and transferred between the workstation and store controllers using simple point and click technology. Messages on the store controller may be cut and pasted to problem reports.
If desired, the IBM 4690 Enhanced Remote Operator Feature (IBM ROP) may easily be integrated into ROP-Win/TCP to greatly enhance the usability and extend the usefulness and productivity IBM ROP. The combination of ROP-Win/TCP and IBM ROP provides your support team the ability to support your stores using ASYNC and MVS SNA/SDLC in addition to the TCP/IP communications interface supplied by ROP-Win/TCP. It removes the IBM ROP requirement to execute in a DOS window and provides all the functionality of ROP-Win/TCP. You may use multiple communication methods to support your stores depending a given situation. As an example you may use either TCP/IP or ASYNC to support your store. When used with IBM ROP, ROP-Win/TCP replaces the IBM ROP support workstation component and will use IBM ROP component installed on a your 4690 store controller when you use ASYNC or SNA/SDLC.
