The Analysis portion of the AltCode COBOL application services uses the SQL compliant database created during the Inventory phase in conjunction with the application source code and performs further analysis of the application.
As part of the parsing process the COBOL code is encoded into a proprietary AltCode Run Time Language format that encapsulates all of the data manipulations and logic choices within the source code.
The type of analysis performed depends on what the goal of the analysis is. Such uses include determining the impact of changing a print field size, changing a database table field or determining where a particular piece of logic is repeated within an application. The design of the database and the supporting internally encoded programs (RTL) allow more complex ad hoc queries to be efficiently formulated and processed.
This analysis is available at the standard AltCode rates once the inventory process is completed.
